Palace Welcome back to the tour, we're now at the famous corner of Hollwood and Vine St, so we walk up Vine to the world famous Palace. The The Palace has special shows only, and has KISS and KROQ dance nights on Friday and Saturdays.

PANTAGES PHOTO Palladium PHOTO The Palladium on Sunset books a lot of hardcore shows, and is often booked by Goldenvoice.

The Pantages Theater is a beautiful old theatre from the golden years of Hollywood, and is absolutely beautiful inside. The concerts here are mostly booked by Neaderlander concerts, and are more for the older yuppie crowd.

Right next door is Bob's Frolic Room, a cool drinking bar with old movie star caricatures on the walls. And the latest Hollywood club is the Baked Potato, Hollywood, a new club at Sunset & Vine with bands nightly. FROLIC ROOM

dragonfly PHOTO Now let's head south on Vine St to Santa Monica Blvd and turn right to the Dragonfly on Santa Monica, where they have good bands on weekdays and dancing too. It's got lots of rooms and a patio for that outdoor feel.

MARTINI LOUNGE PHOTO Moving on down to Melrose Ave, we visit Martini Lounge, a unique club with great bands all the time. Across the street and down a block is Smalls, a cool little club for just hanging out.

Moving on down Melrose we stop at Gabah, a small rock club on the outskirts of Hollywood near the Hollywood Freeway & Melrose.

GARAGE PHOTO We now enter Silverlake, and stop at The Garage, a club at Santa Monica and Virgil that looks like a garage inside. They have a stage with hubcaps and license plates nailed to the wall, flames painted on the walls, and two bars in two rooms. SPACEDOG ART We head on over to Silverlake Blvd and turn left, going up into a small community where they have their own cool pop beatnik kinda rock thing happening. The premier club is Spaceland on Silver Lake Blvd, and it's a big club too, up almost in the hills, away from the city, yet still in the heart of things. The local bands here usually have good followings.

Other clubs in the area are Jumbo's Clown Room, a strip club that occassionally has bands, The Silverlake Lounge, which seems to keep moving to different places, Mr. T's Bowl, an Eagle Rock club that's in the Eagle Rock bowling alley, more than a little out of the way. Other clubs we missed near Hollywood are Gengis Cohen and Molly Malone's, both small clubs with bands on Fairfax Blvd.

Now let's jump on the 101 Hollywood Freeway north and check out the San Fernando Valley, the metropolitan area with the highest percentage of rock musicians per population in the world . . .
