The entire beach along the Balboa Peninsula is actually Newport City Beach, so this guide refers to all the sand not covered by our West Newport and Newport Pier guides. Naturally, the farther you get from the piers, the less access you'll have to food stands, rentals, etc. The boardwalk that runs from 36th to F Street is very popular with bikers and skaters. A playground with basketball courts are located near 13th Street. Fire rings are found near the Balboa Pier. Surfing is subject to restrictions depending on crowds.Food/Dining: Many food stands and restaurants are near the Newport and Balboa Piers, as well as one take-out stand near 12th Street.
Facilities: Lifeguards, surfing, diving, bike paths, bus stop, basketball courts, volleyball, fire rings, food stands, picnic tables, pier, playground, rentals, showers, tide pools.
Restrooms: Many facilities are located next to the boardwalk.
Dogs: Allowed in parking lots and on boardwalk only; not allowed on the sand.
