One of OC's beach Meccas, the Newport Pier area, which roughly runs from about 18th Street up to 21st Street and beyond, is a whirlwind of activity most weekends. People of all ages flock here on foot, skates and bikes, many from out-of-county and out-of-state. Find a parking space and you can easily make a full day out of the Newport Pier.
Food/Dining: Many food-to-go shops near the pier and a few sit-down eateries, including a couple of fine restaurants.
Facilities: Lifeguards, marina, fishing, bike paths, bus stop, food stands, playground, rentals.
Restrooms: Clean and busy.
Dogs: Allowed in parking lots and on pavement only.
