In early '97, the duo began trading song ideas & eventually decided to form a band. Within a week they added vocalist Samuel Jaurequi, whom they met at a midnight acoustic jam, & bassist Ralph Parra. After only their 2nd show, The Mystic Love Gods were invited to play The Troubadour on a Saturday night, setting the stage for a self-titled demo & many eventful nights on the LA club circuit.
