ROYAL CROWN REVUE

At The Palace

By Nick Darlow

You could tell by the huge crowd at the Palace that swing is definitely hotter than hell right now. That being the case, what better show to see than the best swing band around, The Royal Crown Revue. RCR played an amazing, energetic set from start to finish, blending great music with a strong stage presence. Vocalist Eddie NicholsÕ voice was in prime condition especially on songs like ÒThe WalkinÕ BluesÓ and the Bobby Darin cover ÒBeyond The SeaÓ. The showÕs peak moment was no doubt the bandÕs rousing rendition of ÒHey PachucoÓ which included an amazing drum solo by Daniel Glass.
By the time the show ended, RCR had given their fans a completely entertaining show proving that they are worth all the hype surrounding them and then some. One quick word of advice, donÕt miss RCR or their opener ÒHep CatÓ. YouÕll be sorry if you do.
