CUT THROAT
SUICIDE ALLEY
at Callahan's

By Crimson Gypsie

When I got to the club, CUT THROAT was already on stage so I missed the first half of their set but I luckily got to see the last part of this hard edged band. Cut Throat was an excellent example of what hard rock used to be. They had tight songs and a great sound. As their flyer says, "Hard Rock is back in your face." It certainly was, not only did they rock but they had a great stage show and rapport with the audience. They are a band definitely worth checking out and I am sure you will be hearing more about them soon.
Cut Throat is: Sean, vocals, Darwin, guitar, Ken, guitar, J.D., drums and John, bass. You can also check this band out yourself too on August 30 at The Rock or off their website at http://members.aol.com/cthroatgtr. Their hotline number is (818) 380-0309 or (818) 762-8520.
Why I decided to go that night was the ad for Revlon Red, a band I have never seen but have always wanted too. Unfortunately, for some reason they didn't make it. It was fortunate though that one of my favorite bands, SUICIDE ALLEY filled in for them. They are one of the greatest rock bands ever and girls if you miss the fine, long haired rockers, this band has four of the finest ever. They opened with "Say Your Prayers" a hard hitting song that got the audience captivated and waiting for more. By the third song, "Action," I literally had people coming up to me and asking if I had a mailing list for these guys. One of their new-found fans expressed that "he knew talent when he saw it and these guys had talent!" What is even more amazing is that this band posesses the skill, not only for their music but their stage presence as well, of a band that has been together for many years and they have only been together about a year. The rest of the night was a thrill ride of great rock. With songs like "Slam Bam" and "Down & Dirty" it made me long for the days when you used to be able to walk into a club and hear great rock, not re-hashed UCLA Beck wanna-be's. The band closed the set with "So Far From Home" and the audience thoroughly enticed by the night of hard rockin' music went home happy. Suicide Alley is blessed with Mick, who kicks ass on bass, Singe, who has a great voice, Ashlyn, who wails on the guitar, and Seann, who keeps it goin' with his drums. All in all, these guys are going straight to the top so I would see them now! And you have a chance to! This August 30th at The Coconut Teaszer.
