AMBUSH
SUICIDE ALLEY
REVLON RED
MISS TRESS
at The Roxy

By Lisa J. Kelly

Hey, like I said last time, HOLLYWOOD'S BACK....and this kick-ass show at The Roxy just confirmed it!
It was my first chance to see the best new band in town MISS TRESS, and you can bet it won't be my last! This band is living proof that girls CAN play rock & roll, just as well as the guys (better than many, in this case!). Lead vocalist Priscilla and the rest of the band (including keyboards) really hit the spot with their set of tunes that are, quite simply, good 'ol ROCK! Some of the set's highlights included the beautiful ballad "Lonely," the heart-crushing "Never Too Late" (that one's got my vote!), and an unbelievable rendition of Lita Ford's hit "Kiss Me Deadly." Whatever you do, don't miss this band, cause I've got a good feeling they're gonna go straight to the top - FAST!!!
And just in case you haven't heard me screaming around town for the past four years, I will now repeat my famous (or INFAMOUS) chant...AMBUSH is GOD!!! And they now have a new member for all of us to worship. Ex-Blood & Bullets' axeman Tony Rodd's presence in the band actually IMPROVES PERFECTION! He fit in perfectly, as he, vocalist/guitarist Steve Russo, drummer Dr. Shock, and (possibly the most underrated bassist on the scene) Billy Atoms, kicked off their assault with "2013," the song most likely to make them living legends -- "On Your Knees," and their two newest killers "Save Me" and "Send Me An Angel," before ending thee show (WAY too soon) with "One For The Road," but not before my accomplice, LaJenna, and I were able to tear through two rolls of film!!! Be sure to catch Ambush (with Guttersluts, and an array of other MUST-SEE bands) at Key Club on November 1st!
P.S. Tony, if you're reading this, welcome to the family!!!
Unfortunately, my club-going was cut short by the Great-Grandmother of all headaches, so I didn't get to see Revlon Red or Suicide Alley. But I did HEAR them from outside, and both bands sounded in fine form; with SUICIDE ALLEY playing "Long Way From Home," "Nothing To Lose" and "Slam Bam Baby," which Singe announced they weren't going to play, but I can think of about 1,000 people that night who were glad they did!
Then REVLON RED , who had their NEW tape and lots of other cool merchandise available at the show, did their thing...and did they ever! Mr. DeSade and his troop ripped through "Sexual Suicide," My Turn," and Cheap Trick's classic "I Want You To Want Me, making everyone want MORE...I could just imagine the chaos going on in there! And as fate would have it, my headache disappeared about three minutes after I got home---Oh well, next time!!!
